Steps for Setting Up cformsII - Plugin for Wordpress and Thesis

by Yancey Grantham

This is a web log of my blogging and next is the what I do to easily set up cformsII. This is a list for myself that I can refer back to it as I am working on my 7 blogs.

cformsII > cforms (form settings)

Change name to “Contact”

Install a form preset: “Reset to “default” contact form”

I remove the first field, “My Fieldset” as the template I’m using does not need this and it shows up.
You can use this if you want your title to be left aligned and bigger, put your own text in the Field Name and see.

I change the email field name to this:
Email||err:Please provide a valid email address!

I change out Message to:
Your Comment|err:You need to say something!

I add one new line.
Change “Single line of text” to “Visitor verification (Q&A)”
The I change the Field Name to:
Please verify|err:Your Q&A code is not correct!

> click “Update Settings”

Under Redirection, Messages, Text and Button Label

I change the Submit button text to: “Send”
I have a hard time “submiting” I don’t want to demand my commenters to submit. Usind “Send” sounds better to me.

Change the “(required)” to “Required” in both the required label and the email label.

Change Redirect to “Hide form after successful submission”
I might change this in the future to a dedicated “alternative success page.”

> click “Update Settings”

Under Core Form Admin / Email Options

Check “Include in last 5 entries shown on the dashboard.”

Under Auto Confirmation

Check “Activate auto confirmation”

> click “Update Settings”

> click “Global Settings”

Under WP Editor Button support
Check “Enable TinyMCA & Code editor buttons”
It didn’t show up for me once and I had to uncheck it, it “Update Settings” then check it again then hit “Update Settings.” That worked in making it appear.

Under Visitor Verification Settings (Q&A)
Change out questions to something entertaining.

Under Database Input Tracking
Check “Enable Database Tracking”

> click “Update Settings”

> click “Styling”
I’m using fancy_white.css and have been changing it. So I choose it from the drop down menu then click “Select Style.” Then I select all and paste in the one that I have been working on, see last post.

> click “Update Changes”

Now To Put It Into A Page

> click “Write”
> click “Page”
> click “Visual” to make sure you are on the visual editor. You should now see the cfII as a new icon to the right of “Kitchen Sink.” Click in the Post field and then click on the cformsII icon and boom, your form is in.

Add a title and any other text then hit publish.

> click “Design”
> click “Thesis Options”
Under Navigation Menu check the “Contact” page.

Hit the “Big Ass Save Button!”

You now have your contact form.
