Searching For a Theme Did I Find One with Thesis?

by Yancey Grantham

Jeezz wowazza! I just spent most of the day looking at different themes. Yikes! Scare me! Can you imagine trusting your website cascading style sheets (css) and WordPress tags to someone who whipped together a theme in one afternoon then never has updated it? Or how about a theme with wacky graphics or layout? There were other themes out there that were one of dozens that a designer had created and you know each one gets their personal attention with updates.

The idea of locking me into controlling someone else’s attempt at coding is not how I want to spent my time. I don’t want to have to code this from scratch either.

I was reading about themes and WordPress had a page with themes that were compatible with version 2.5. The last thing you want to do is use a theme that was not even supporting the latest version of WordPress. So I started at the top of Themes/Theme Compatibility/2.5 and looked at every theme. I got to theme 190 and finally found something different.

Thesis Theme for WordPress

My eyes had gotten blurry from looking at all the themes, copies of themes and attempts at themes for the last few hours. Could I really believe my eyes? Here is a nice theme that I think I can use. Not only do I think I could use it, I think I could modify it to suit my needs. Looking closer I was floored to find that the developer was ACTIVELY keeping up with the theme, almost unheard of.

Let’s take a look at what else is being offered:

  • A Manual
  • User’s Guide
  • Tutorials
  • Setup Information
  • Forum

In the forum I was able to see dozens of blogs that had used the Thesis Theme and had customized it in wonderful ways.

I’m going to sleep on it because it costs money and I have the 24 rule. Anything that cost $24 or more I have to wait 24 hours to buy. I’m in no hurry but you just might see this blog Thesis Themed out some day.
